Strengthening Our Communities

Great communities don’t just happen; they require hard work.  Maintaining them and our quality of life requires us to address a wide range of issues.

  • Security: We need to support our state and local police who are on the frontlines of protecting us every day.  But we also need to make sure that the resources are there that support law enforcement, such as treatment for mental health and addiction and, once and for all, a system of universal background checks on all firearm purchases to help prevent gun violence.
  • The Environment: Enshrined in Pennsylvania’s Constitution is the right of every citizen to clean air, pure water and the preservation of our natural resources. I have consistently defended our citizens’ right to a clean environment. I took on the big oil and gas companies when they tried to reverse a ban on fracking in the Delaware River, and I beat them in court. It’s time for our legislature to pass laws that protect our environment, like my bill SB 300 to increase Pennsylvania’s renewable resources to 30% by 2030, which will put more Pennsylvanians to work and help lower costs.
  • Protecting the Rights of All: We often take for granted the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of this great country.  But as we have seen recently in places like Buffalo, NY and elsewhere, there are those who have a very different vision of America.  We can’t let them win. Make no mistake, voting rights, civil rights, and human rights are all on the ballot this November. I will always support a woman’s right to choose, equal pay for equal work, and equal protection under the laws for all people, regardless of race, gender, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, or identity.
  • Infrastructure: Last year, Pennsylvania ranked 44th in the country for infrastructure. We have already seen the deadly effects of this in the Pittsburgh area. Thanks to the bipartisan infrastructure bill, PA is eligible to receive billions of dollars in funding. With proper planning, we can bring money to the 10th district to repair our roads and bridges and build out an EV charging network.
