Strengthening Our Communities

Great communities don’t just happen; they require hard work.  Maintaining them and our quality of life requires us to address a wide range of issues.

  • Security: We need to support our state and local police who are on the frontlines of protecting us every day.  But we also need to make sure that the resources are there that support law enforcement, such as treatment for mental health and addiction and, once and for all, a system of universal background checks on all firearm purchases to help prevent gun violence.
  • The Environment: Enshrined in Pennsylvania’s Constitution is the right of every citizen to clean air, pure water and the preservation of our natural resources.  It’s time for our legislature to pass laws that uphold that right, not violate it.
  • Protecting the Rights of All: We often take for granted the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of this great country.  But as we have seen recently in places like Charlottesville, VA and elsewhere, there are those who have a very different vision of America.  We can’t let them win.  I will always support a woman’s right to choose, equal protection for equal work, and the equal protection of the laws for all people, regardless of race, gender, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or identity or whether they are challenged by disability.  Our diversity makes us great.  We can’t afford to leave anyone behind.
